Recently, I had the pleasure of speaking with Sean Peck of The Thre Tremors. Among other things, we touch on what he’s been up to during the lockdown, The Three Tremors’ newest music, his opinion of the music scene today, and what he’s looking forward to the most once COVID-19 breaks.

If you would like to learn more about The Three Tremors, you can head over to their website, and dig in. Once you’ve done that, check out this interview with Sean. Cheers.

Andrew:
Sean, I appreciate you taking the time today. How have you been holding up over the last year or so? What have you been up to?

Sean:
Recording a ton of Heavy Metal as my gift to the world! [Laughs]. Seriously, I have done like 80 songs in the last year.

Andrew:
Before we dive into your professional career, let’s go back a bit. What first got you hooked on music?

Sean:
I’ve always liked music. I was really into Blondie, Flock of Seagulls, The Cars, The Go Go’s, and that stuff. Then, someone turned me on to Ozzy, and the rest is history.

Andrew:
Who were some of your early influences? What was it about Metal that really drew you in?

Sean:
It was the song “You Can’t Kill Rock And Roll” off the Diary Of A Madman album. For some reason, that kicked my ass. It was a song I played over and over. Then, I grabbed the Scorpions Blackout album. Then, I discovered Judas Priest, and it was game over. I ran around my room air guitaring and trying to sing like Rob Halford with their posters all over my walls. It seemed like it was meant to be for me, and I just embraced the lifestyle. Learning to play guitar seemed like way too much work, and the singers got all the chicks, so I tried to sing.

Andrew:
Let’s talk about recent events first. Tell us about your new release with The Three Tremors, Guardians of the Void. How did the record come together?

Sean:
We started to bang out songs once the pandemic hit, and we were really on a writing tear at that point. Between Dave Garcia and Casey Trask, they were just laying down one smashing riff after the other, and the songs came together quickly. Harry and Tim were laying down their tracks quickly, so we mixed it as it went along, and before you knew it, we had 12 killers put together.

Andrew:
What lyrical themes do you tend to explore with your music? Is your music intensely personal, or are you only telling stories?

Sean:
I’m telling stories. I try not to get too personal, or political. Heavy Metal is an escape, and I want to keep it that way. If I get deeply emotional, it hits like a train crash. If you keep sobbing away with a bunch of dreary shit, or emotional scapes, it just wears thin. If you are singing about vampires and aliens, and then you hit them with a deep suicide song, the impact is greater! [Laughs].

Andrew:
How about the production side of things? Do you self-produce, or do you bring in outside voices?

Sean:
Yes, David Garcia has been getting better and better at production, and this is his masterpiece so far. I am really proud of the work he did, and it sounds fantastic. The drums sound like a helicopter flying over your house! Producing in-house allows us the budget to have the best artwork, and merchandise in the business. It also allows us to spend money marketing the band, and the album.

Andrew:
Let’s go back a bit. For those that don’t know — how did The Three Tremors come together? What’s it been like working with Tim, and Harry?

Sean:
I had the idea to do what the Halford, Dickenson idea failed to do, and actually make that urban legend come true. It was obvious that they were never going to do it, so I decided to hit up Ripper and Harry, and see if they were game. They said, “yes,” and the main thing that we wanted was to make sure everyone knew this was a band and not a project. 70 live shows, and 3 releases later, now people know, and the fanbase is growing.

Andrew:
What are a few of your favorite albums, and why?

Sean:
The first W.A.S.P. album, Defenders Of The Faith from Priest, and some of my own CDs! [Laughs]. Also, Crimson Glory’s Transcendence. It is hard to say why, but these are classic Heavy Metal albums with great songs and great singing. I am attracted to incredible singers, so these albums are just the natural progression for me to grab, and listen to for inspiration.

Andrew:
What other passions do you have? How do those passions inform your music, if at all?

Sean:
I snowboard a lot, which used to consume my entire life. I play a lot of Poker and lately, I have been heavy in the comic book game. Buying and selling. I love them, and it is insane right now. It is like cryptocurrency. The comic book world has influenced my music because we have taken an idea from the comic book world and implemented it into the vinyl stuff. We now have variant artwork for the vinyl offerings and virgin covers which are the original artwork with no logo or album title. I am sure many other bands will start copying us with this idea.

Andrew;
In your opinion, what is the state of the music business these days? Should artists be hopeful? Scared? Both?

Sean:
Artists should not give their music away to streaming sites s period! We have made a stand and we have a system where we release only the songs that will be YouBube videos to the streaming platforms. That is it. Our albums might never hit the streaming services, so if you want to hear the other songs, you will have to support the band, and spend 15 bucks to buy the record. It is insane that you work so hard on an album, and then you give it away free to the world. Fuck that!

Andrew:
Last one. What’s next on your docket? What are you looking forward to most in the post-COVID world?

Sean:
We are doing a tour. I have other tours planned with my other bands, and I plan on releasing another 4 albums next year!
