Chicago-based R&B artist and producer, Leol, on the heels of his highly successful single, “Savages,” has a sultry new release just in time for the new year. Released on December 13, it is sure to massage your earholes in all of the right ways.

“Time,” which also features HRTBRKFEVER, slinks along in a mellow, seductive fashion — in fact, it’s so chill, that the dense, and poignant subject matter almost goes unnoticed. Upon closer examination, “Time,” contemplatively tells the story of a young woman, who seems to be prone to using sex as a means to garner money, a pursuit that leaves her longing for something more.

The overarching theme of “Time” is as age-old, as it is simple — we simply can never have enough time, and when we do have time, it’s hard to decide on how to use it best, and in a sad twist of fate, we often end up wasting it on the wrong things, or the wrong people.

All of us are faced with a never-ending inner monolog, which creates a sort of embattled duality — we want quality time, we want meaningful relationships, but we also crave things, which takes money, which ultimately, degrades our quality time, if we end up with any at all. It’s this vicious cycle that Leol is illustrating in “Time,” which serves as a grim, yet relevant commentary on the state of the world as we know it today.

As for the “nuts and bolts” of the track, Leol, rather impressively, self-produced “Time,” and as previously mentioned, it features industry veteran, HRTBRKFEVER. Ultimately, “Time” is another win for Leol, whose street cred is steadily rising on the scene, with knock-it-out-of-the-park singles under his belt, it will be a great pleasure to watch his career unfold from here.

Great things are in store for Leol, and his enchanting new single, “Time,” is just the beginning.
