If supercharged Psych-Rock happens to be your musical preference, the Psychedelic Porn Crumpets likely need no introduction.

The band’s latest effort, a melodically driven fourth album entitled SHYGA! The Sunlight Mound enables listeners to simply lose themselves amid the chaos as they navigate through the 14-track journey with the band.

SHYGA!, which begins with a trippy introduction (“Big Dijon”), rides an indisputable wave of momentum into a powerful close. In fact, I took a particular liking to the band’s final track – “The Tale of Gurney Gridman.” The four-and-a-half-minute send-off provides pure, unadulterated Garage Rock to your eardrums, reminiscent of the Black Keys.

Jack McEwan, the Crumpets’ vocalist, and primary songwriter flexes his creative muscles in a masterly follow-up to the esteemed And Now for the Whatchamacallit album of 2019. The band manages to brilliantly intertwine 60s and 70s vibes while encapsulating their own distinct sound. Kudos to lead guitarist Luke Parish for his lethal execution throughout, particularly on “Mundungus” – the heaviest track on the album.

SHYGA!, revealed to the masses last week, was released under PPC’s record label, What Reality?

Whether you’re a devoted fan of the genre or merely a curious reader, stop what you’re doing and experience the psychedelic ride for yourselves.
