Cloud Nothings have been around since 2009 and I’ve been with them every step of the way. I discovered them when I was around 21 years old and everything about them appealed to me. My musical world was opening up and it was truly a case of the right band, at the right time. For me, Cloud Nothings have it all.
If you’re into Vaporwave, then you probably know and love George Clanton’s music. For a long time now, he’s been one of the pillars of the Vaporwave community, but that’s not all. He’s also the creator of the absolutely fantastic 100% Electronica label, which has been consistently putting out some of the best and highest quality releases in the Vaporwave and Electronic music scenes today.
When I was growing up, in my mind, there was no bigger or greater band than KISS. While the make-up era was what initially drew me in, I eventually came to love the non-makeup era equally. For the majority of those years (1984-1996), Bruce Kulick was the band’s lead guitarist, and through that music, he became one of my all-time favorites.
For many, Toots was the ultimate performer; for others, he was the embodiment of everything that is good in music, and maybe even in this world. Toots Hibbert was a national treasure, and there will never be another like him. His raspy, soulful vocals will forever live on in our hearts and minds.
If you’re into vinyl, and you grew up or have spent any time on Long Island, or the greater NYC area, then you know the legend of Slipped Disc Records. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, and well into the early 2000s, Slipped Disc was bar none, the premier record shop in this area. Simply put, there was nothing like it.
This month, we get to “sit down” with one of the originators and most well-known artists within the genre, Jeff Cardinal AKA Vaperror. There is a common misconception that men dominate the Rock scene. It’s not true. Women have long co-dominated the Rock scene. The real issue is that they simply aren’t properly acknowledged for their achievements. Over the last several years, women have finally begun to speak out against those who oppress, undermine, and relegate them. It is no longer cool, or acceptable, to be a misogynistic alpha male.
