Ozzy Osbourne has announced his latest release, Patient Number 9.

The album, which is Osbourne’s first since 2020’s Ordinary Man, features collaborations with a variety of artists within the rock and metal niche. Osbourne was recently quoted regarding Jeff Beck’s involvement in the recording, who as Osbourne says, “No other guitar player plays like Jeff Beck. The solo on ‘Patient Number 9’ is just jaw-dropping.”

Speaking on the theme of the album’s debut single, “‘Patient number 9’ is about a mental institution,” as Osbourne says, imagery which is depicted by the video clip, directed by Todd McFarlane.

Patient Number 9 is not the only reason “The Prince of Darkness” has been in the media, as the singer’s health has also been a topic of conversation. Speaking on his ongoing health issues, Sharon Osbourne was recently quoted via social media as saying:

“Ozzy is on the road to recovery after his recent neck and spine surgery.”

With Osbourne himself following up later via Twitter and Instagram by posting:

“I am now home from the hospital recuperating comfortably. I am definitely feeling the love and support from all my fans and send everyone a big thank you for their thoughts, prayers, and well wishes during my recovery.”

Along with Beck, and stalwart guitarist Zakk Wylde, the album will feature the likes of for Black Sabbath alum Tony Iommi, guitarist Eric Clapton, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, Metallica’s Rob Trujillo, Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan, Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready, and Foo Fighters’ late drummer Taylor Hawkins.

Patient Number 9 will be available for streaming and on all other available formats on September 9th, 2022.
