As for Tyler, who along with guitarist Joe Perry once made up half of the infamously anointed “toxic twins,” is no stranger to battling addiction. Things actually got so dire for Tyler and his bandmate’s substance abuse troubles that their addictions all but halted the band, sending the once lionized band careening to a disastrous standstill at its initial peak.
In addition to seeing his contemporaries become household names and ascend the Billboard charts, Tony Cavazo also kept tabs on the influence his band SNOW had on the momentous hard rock wave that washed over the early 1980s.
After decades spent setting trends, but never getting their deserved due, beginning with 2016’s Anvil Is Anvil, the band began a run to unmitigated glory, which continued with Pounding the Pavement (2018), Legal At Last (2020), and the band latest effort, Impact is Imminent, released on May 20th, 2022.
I think for me, this currently is my second favorite release from Sharon Van Etten behind Are We There. It could possibly rise up and take the top spot. I like it much more than Remind Me Tomorrow, but now I can see how vital that record and her transformation on it were so that she could get to this point, and deliver this very open, raw piece of work.

As for Revenge, while ranking KISS’ studio albums proves difficult, I can safely say that it’s top-five, perhaps even top-three, and aside from maybe Creatures of the Night, Revenge is handily KISS’ heaviest record, and definitely, its nastiest. Retrospectively, Revenge has got all of the ingredients required for a great KISS album, more so, it’s got all the ingredients for a great album in general. I will always remember this record fondly, and on the album’s 30th anniversary, I say cheers to all those involved in creating it, you did well here, and that’s something I think fans of all shapes and sizes can agree with.
I suppose it all depends on the perspective you take. If you take it for what it’s purported to be – a celebration of Eddie and Van Halen’s legacy – it could be fun. On the other hand, if you take it for what it may well be – an obvious cash-grab, and complete bastardization of a once-great band, by a group of players who together have no business calling themselves “Van Halen,” or “Van Hagar” – you might have different feelings on the matter entirely.
All in all, the 2022 version of the Taiwan Beats Showcase has proved to be integral to the region’s growth and continues to demonstrate Taiwan’s importance to the overarching independent and alternative scenes. I am of the opinion that the showcase will continue to serve as a proving ground for young and old artists alike, as they gain greater exposure and subsequent entry into the western zeitgeist.
